Scaling Success
The Toronto Centre of Learning & Development has supported newcomers and immigrants in the GTA for over 40 years. With a team of 12 core staff plus instructors and student placements, they needed a digital learning platform that could keep pace with their mission and their learners.
Opportunity
The Centre's previous learning management system was static and hard to navigate. Learners passively scrolled through PDFs and PowerPoints, instructors couldn't build their own content, and support responses took up to 24 hours. They needed an interactive, user-friendly platform with real people behind it.
Strategy
NeonTrain provided sandbox access so instructors could explore the platform before going live, followed by two rounds of targeted training on both platform features and instructional design. Monthly Concierge calls became a cornerstone of the program rollout, used for everything from troubleshooting to strategic planning.
“Even a friendly chat with NeonTrain is valuable. There's always more understanding afterward, and that makes the whole experience more useful, more strategic, and more human." — Layla Zia, Manager of Operations and Strategic Initiatives
Results
100% of learners in the first cohort were onboarded and actively using Brightspace. Instructors gained confidence and ownership over their content, and learners began building digital literacy alongside their course knowledge, a combination the Centre calls "double learning."
Future
As the Toronto Centre of Learning & Development prepares to serve a broader learner base with ministry-approved diploma programs, they plan to grow their use of Brightspace and NeonTrain right alongside them.
